While we were waiting ages for a menu, we could hear shouted obscenities coming from the kitchen. Not a promising start! Our Butterbean with Cider Casserole came with a small portion of vegetables (we ordered new potatoes, and were brought chips). The dish was basically a whole plateful of butterbeans in a peppery sauce, with a few sliced green beans (more beans!). Pleasant enough, but there was no hint of cider, and the amount of butterbeans was just overwhelming. Surely the Management must have wondered why a good-looking restaurant with a menu that's had some effort put into it might only have 4 customers over a 2 hour+ lunchtime period? The answer is: pay attention to detail, and show your customers you care. Oh, and tell the kitchen staff not to shout f- words at each other with the door propped open, at least during opening hours in what is essentially a family restaurant. Ronald Dutt (Folkestone) wrote on 1 July 2003 I visited there on the 24th June and I found it excellent. The service was splendid. The meal was excellent. I was evacuated to South Wales during the Second World War. Things have changed since. Carolyn Price (Ty Mawr) wrote on 22 August 2001 Brilliant atmosphere and lovely people. Plenty of room and tables outside. The menu had a great veggie menu, most of which was vegan, a competant and understanding chef and lots of little extras. |
