Upon arriving at the restaurant that has "Austins VegetarianRestaurant" emblazened upon the signage, and having been reassured bythe vegetarian wine flyers as we entered, we sat down withanticipation. Imagine our numb surprise upon seeing below the verytempting vegetarian and vegan dishes, dishes comprising seafood,poultry and meat. Finding it hard to believe what I was seeing andexpecting to be told it was "mock", I asked the waitress who advisedthat Austins Vegetarian Restaurant has been serving meat for the pastfew weeks - but that its ok because they cook in different areas ofthe kitchen. The whole point of going was to eat in an establishmentthat was vegetarian (aka a vegetarian restaurant) - if I didn't mindeating where they prepare meat, I could eat in just about every eateryin the UK that offers vegetarian options.

What a treat... to have such a superb veggie restaurant in our own town.  My husband and I went to Austin's on Valentine's evening and had a wonderful meal in a lovely atmosphere. Tables looked very special with white damask cloths and sparkly red-heart confetti, pink balloons held down by little net parcels of mints and a red rose for everyone. We were greeted with a glass of Champagne and treated to a wonderful three course meal plus wine and coffee... total cost £50, which was good value for what we had. The menu is changed regularly but I understand that the superb little parcels of garlicky potatoes and the scrumptious salad is always on the menu. Looking forward to our next visit, which I hope will be soon!!

Austins is a family run restaurant. We do not serve fast food - we serve freshly prepared food as fast as we can. Imaginative menu changes on a regular basis, allergies catered for with 24 hrs notice if possible, vegetarian/vegan wines and organic beers/lagers. Three course meal plus glass of wine under £25 per person.
