I'm not a vegetarian, but I love good food. And that's what you always get at the Engine Shed Vegitarian Cafe! That alone would sell it to me, but if you add on to that a beautiful setting (it's in a converted 18th century engine shed) great value and wonderful service it really is worth giving a try. They have just recently opened for breakfast on a Saturday and I tried it out last week... what a way to start your weekend! A huge cooked breakfast including juice, tea or coffee and a thick slice of the Engine Sheds own made organic bread with organic jams or marmalade - all for just £6.50. Lunch during the week offers a wide range of vegetarian and vegan choices of main course plus a beautiful range of gorgeous salads. Pudding is a range of hot or cold home made sweets and cakes. I usually lunch there and feel very full up for about £7.00. On top of all this, the Engine Shed is a new breed of business called a 'social enterprise' - this means that all of their profits go back into the community. For the Engine Shed this means creating training and real work for people with learning difficulties. So if you want to have a great time and do something good at the same time, give the Engine Shed a go. I think it's fabulous. My work connection to the Engine shed is that we sometimes hire out their rooms for community development events... mostly so we can get Engine Shed catering for them!
