Recommended! Canteen style-no frills restaurant. Great sized portions. Vegan options - including a chocolate flapjack! Friendly staff. No sign of any tables being cleared whilst we were there.

I got there in a hurry to be elsewhere and was hungry. The name alone was making me feel that it would be too cheap and cheerful but someone up here recommended it to me.
It has a really warm, canteena style about it. It gets busy with folk from all walks of life, students, bikers, suit and tie guys which adds to the comfort factor.
The staff that night were busy, sweating from the labour but never seemed to stop for a break. The food trays were running a little empty at the time but they were soon refilled with supplies from the kitchen, no microwaves here I'm glad to say.
I ordered feta filo parcels with some saucy mushrooms and couscous salad. I had a frangipan and apple pie for dessert. Despite having to eat on the move the food was gorgeous. I delighted over every mouthful.
The bonus to all of this was the price. No fat margins here, 5 quid for a large plate of food. 3 quid for dessert. Very reasonable for the quality of both food and service. I'll be eating inside on my next trip up here.

I have eaten in the dinner many times! The food is fab. Very tasty and fresh. Have even has fussy children enjoy it ;) Excellent value for money, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. And yes, Susie does exsist, I have had the honour of meeting with her before.

Although I'm originally from Edinburgh, I've been living overseas and visited Susie's for the first time when I was last at home. It's great! Love the food. Good veggie comfort food. It's in the student part of town so fairly grungy in decor - mish-mash of old wooden chairs and tables - but it has a lot of charm. It's a cafe more than a restaurant and prices reflect that. It didn't have live music the night I was there but I understand that the bands can be quite entertaining. The restaurant does serve wine and beer which makes for a relaxing lunch/evening meal. It serves a wide range of food but when I was there with 3 others we all really enjoyed our food and I will be back again. Staff were very friendly. Susie didn't seem to be working herself that night but I'm assured that she does exist.
