See Also: Bob Trollop 32-40 Sandhill ( opposite the Guildhall ) Fully Vegetarian Vegan Eclectic Lynzy (Sunderland) wrote on 7 January 2008 Bob Trollops is an amazing bar for Newcastle as it has an extremely unique interior as well as being one of the very few places offering a vegetarian menu. The bar is surrounded with querky bits and bobs and offers a very relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunatley the food doesn't live upto expectations with the vege hotpot being accompanied with a frozen definately NOT home cooked Yorkshire pudding! Much resembling aunt bessies abominations! I did enjoy my time in Bob Trollops and I would eat there again, possibly wouldn't be my first choice and I would be reluctant to buy anything pricey off the menu! But its good for a sarnie and a pint! Well done for hitting a niche market! Cheryl Jones (Lancaster) wrote on 9 October 2007 Atmosphere alone is brill!! Manageress is friendly. To anybody who appreciates old buildings, this is a MUST!! Charlotte (Glasgow) wrote on 11 September 2007 The staff seem to have no idea what's going on and had obviously not been trained very well, if at all. Claire (Sunderland) wrote on 12 April 2007 A quiet bar serving some of my most desirable Vegetarian and Vegan food. The menu has a wide range of delicious home cooked choices. The menu is alot more imaginative than some I have seen offering meat free food. John (Newcastle upon Tyne) wrote on 30 April 2006 Possibly the only home cooked and fully prepared vegetarian food you will find in Newcastle City Centre. The bar is fully vegetarian but as it's a bar, the smokers tend to spoil the atmosphere. Not exactly 100% vegetarian as it's the same bar as Offshore (next door) which offers the same menu in a meat version. You can get meat and fish meals in Bob Trollop if you ask and you can get the veggie menu in Offshore, so a bit of a con really. Ken Rothwell (Altringham) wrote on 5 January 2005 Bob Trollop was an architect known for his appreciation of the good things in life - and he wouldn't have been disappointed by this eponymous restaurant. It's a real pub, not far from the notorious Quayside, with not a sign of Kieron Dyer. The menu is extensive, all vegetarian, and to suit all tastes. To fight the biting wind all three of us chose the vegetarian sausages with mash and onion sauce. The sausages were excellent, light and stuffed with plenty of vegetables and herbs. The mash very good, plenty of it and the gravy was well worth asking for a spoon to finish the last drops. There were several choice beers to drink. The atmosphere was cosy and the service was prompt. If you wish to start an afternoon out in Newcastle, I can't think of a better place. |
