I've been coming to Sabras for 15 years. Why? Because the food is absolutely delicious! All dishes are prepared on the premises, with great pride by the proprietor. Service has - with very rare exceptions - always been adequately fast, and always courteous.

This restaurant has always been well reviewed amongst London's Indian veggie places. It now seems to be living on its reputation and has totally given up on service. We placed an order and it was only after 20 minutes that we were told that some items were unavailable. Even then some of the replacement items did not arrive. When we complained to the proprietor we were told that we had been told that the replacement items were not available (were four of us deluded?) and that we shouldn't have ordered some of the less popular items. We'd been kept waiting for so long we had to order another bottle of wine. This didn't arrive. Only when we asked what had happened to it were we told that they were out of stock. The food was OK - I've had a lot better, for less money at the Woodlands in Marylebone Lane. Mysore Marsala Dhosa is £5.50 there against £7.50 at Sabras etc. etc. The service at Sabras counts as about the worst I have received in 30 years of frequent eating out. The Spam sketch from Monty Python is alive and well at Sabras.
