Arrived late with party of 9 for Sunday lunch, the place was packed and they were short of staff - not a good start! However, they made up another table just for us, the food arrived fresh and hot in a matter of minutes and everyone (veggie and non-veggie, aged from 9 to 77) agreed it was the best we had tasted in ages. Portions were huge, some couldn't finish, came with 8 different vegetables, tasty and interesting veggie options. Puddings were fabulous. Bill was very reasonable although I think we made it up with drinks at the bar. You can't book Sunday lunch so get there early. Parking is difficult. Sunday lunch £6.95, puddings £4.

The Eagle is quite unusual as it has a bakery downstairs in the bar. We've been eating there since it openened in September 2001. The head chef has been vegan for 12 years and ensures that there is always veg/vegan specials on. Restaurant food in a pub environment and a good price as well. Specials at around £5 in the bar and £8 in the restaurant. The Eagle does the best vegan sunday roast dinner that we've ever found in Brighton!!!
