I visited Infinity Foods Cafe in July 07 having googled for some vegan eating places in Brighton. It was about 2 in the afternoon when I visited and the cafe was very busy (which probably doesn't take much, because it's quite small downstairs) but I didn't have to wait long to order and the friendly, amenable and caring staff were very calm and collected, all things considered! There was plenty of choice on the menu for vegans, so no difficulty there, and my meal was delicious and well-presented. When I went back to choose a cake afterwards I had an unusually large choice- often, the only vegan options are without all the artery-killing-but-oh-so-nice frostings that veggies get to enjoy, and choices are usually limited to fruit cake or flapjack. NOT HERE!! I chose a banana cake with dairy-free vanilla frosting and I can honestly say that it was the best I've had- anywhere. Because I was rather taken aback at the selection, I asked for a recommendation and the lady serving me was friendly and obviously cared about what she did. I can't recall what I paid, but for vegan, freshly produced, local and seasonal food, it was very good and cheaper than a lot of veggie/vegan restaurants I've seen. You can also choose to take away food, and if you do you can recycle the containers in the Infinty Foods Healthfood store across the road!

This is by far the ONLY place I know, where almost 99% of the food sold here is Vegan, Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Organic and absolutely delicious. They have a wide range of salads - all of which are Vegan, Wheat and Gluten free and a choice of 3 breads each to suit the individual dietary requirements of their customers. They have a daily chef's special and soup along with a selection of made-to-order foods fresh form the kitchen. Don't forget to try their exclusive millet or quinoa slice with tomato sauce - nowhere else I know makes it and it is heavenly! I have a very special diet and it is the only place I can go to eat without worrying whether I can eat the food, and if I ever need to know what is in a dish, they present me with a list of ingredients for every dish they sell. The atmosphere is lovely, warm and inviting and you can hide yourself away upstairs if you don't feel like watching the people go by on the busy street. The only downside I can think of is that it gets very busy at lunchtime, so if you can hold your appetite at bay for an extra hour or so, go back once the rush is over - I promise you won't regret it!
