The café’s ethos is a simple one: To serve delicious, affordable vegetarian and vegan food, cooked with fair-trade and locally produced organic ingredients.

On a typical day at the Café you’ll be sure to find a hearty soup, some nourishing Chilli, a chunky Homity pie, a choice of three salads, numerous (homemade) flapjacks and cakes, and you’ll be able to accompany this all with a drink from our stock of organic cordials, or a cappuccino from our Italian coffee machine (the best coffee outside Italy, swears John, our handyman!).
The Treehouse cafe is a not-for-profit independent community social enterprise. Food politics is of course very important to the café, and informs everything that we do. This requires us to constantly reflect upon issues such as the way we source our ingredients, the social movements we support by stocking their products, and the way in which we balance competing ethical and environmental claims. For instance, an issue that we often face is the difficulty of balancing our desire to support fairtrade and trade justice movements, whilst trying to avoid using products whose transportation generates excessive air miles.
The Treehouse has a very friendly relaxed atmosphere and is run mainly by volunteers and is owned and run by it's members.
We open every Thursday night for film showings, open space nights, benefits, bangers and mash and boardgames and many other special events.
