Absolutely superb !! Been twice in a week - once with friends, and other time with vegetarian daughter. Lovely atmosphere and brilliant variety of vegy food. Great value too (spent £30 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 4 drinks). The staff were relaxed and friendly - and didn't pester. There is a vegaratian restuarant in the town I live in which doesn't even come close to Woody's. Highly recommend and plan to go back again soon,.

I love Woodys and go there for a coffee etc. most weekends, however, I might find somewhere new to go after the owner spoke to me like I was dirt. We asked for a peppermint tea and were told that they had run out (Sainsburys is just up the road from them) so then we order a fresh mint tea. The owner then came out and rudely told us that there wasn't any, so I said well actually my friend has a tea bag on her can we please have some hot water. She then told us that we would have to pay a washing up charge. We were charged 40p for washing up, its not the cost obviously that I care about but her attitude. We had ordered a coffee, a cake and crepe so it wasn't as if we weren't spending money and she has the cheek to charge us because she can't provide something that is on the menu. Not going there again and will not recommend the place anymore.

My husband and I are strict vegetarians, since we discovered Woody's we very rarely go to any other restaurants. The food at Woody's is like homemade cooking. Very healthy, tasty, varied, well presented, wholesome and you feel good after having eaten there. I never feel bloated or as if I've eaten too much unhealthy or oily stuff.
I travelled a lot in the UK and around the world and I think that it’s the best vegetarian restaurant by far.
To top it all up the staff, i.e. the chefs, waiters and waitresses are so friendly, helpful and the whole atmosphere is entirely welcoming, helpful, homely and relaxed. They do their best to accommodate your dietary requirements. It feels like they really care.
Also the other icing on the cake is that all the food there is organic or home grown!
I find my self there at least once or twice a week! We need more of Woody’s branches all over the UK for our fellow vegetarians out there and also the non-veggies as my meat eating friends also love it here.
Long live Woody’s! You must go there and see for yourself.

My husband and I visited Woodys Cafe and found it to be very pleasant, good food, bright and cheery atmosphere, good price for the food and delicious cakes, though I didnt have any looking at them made you want to have a piece. I had a spinach and cheese omlette with salad and coleslaw, and my husband had gluten freen pizza which tasted lovely for gluten free pastry. The best thing I thought about this cafe is the fact that they have Soya milk, which most cafe's dont stock. So well done to Manager and staff who were very pleasant and attentive to our every need.

We visited this place the third time in less than a year and we always enjoyed food, drinks and the friendlyness of the staff. We never had any negative sideeffects like J. Baker in March. We recommend always to finish with a cake. You cannot call it a cheap place, but the price-quality ratio is competitve. Even in Winter you feel a nice mediterranian atmosphere there. We will come back!

We visited with a small party and found the food to be great especially the pizzas.. We like the fact that you know you will not find any meat inclusions in our food but was dissapointed that we were charged a non optional service charge without prior notice and after presenting our card for payment, which is not legal and the attitude that followed left a bad taste in our mouth.

Good staff? Very friendly, good service
Quality of food? Excellent
Atmosphere? Great
Price guide? Inexpensive, good value for money

We always have great food and a good experience at Woody's. Went for a birthday celebration in March. The food was fantastic. Sat next to the kitchen and could see how it was all freshly prepared. Would recommend it to anybody - and I do. Best restaurant in Dacorum. That it is vegetarian is a bonus.

An early lunch lead to an extreme case of diahorrea for my partner and I. He had the mexican burger - bone dry I had the cheesy leek and green lentil bake - my salad was rotten and mouldy! At the time we didn't complain as didn't want to cause a scene. Two hours later after the horrific diahorrea experience I rang to report my concern. The owner was rude and dismissive from the start. She told me it couldn't possibly be food poisioning as thier food is made fresh each day and it takes 12 hours to get in your system. I was then told to consult my doctor or whoever I wanted to and she tried to hang up on me! I said I hadn't finished and that i would like a refund. She said fine have a refund have what you want and hung up on me. At no point was I rude to this woman. I was calm, and reasonable at all times even when she was rude, and hostile towards me. I had an appointment at my doctors later that day anyway and when i mentioned my experience my doctor told me you can have such a response. So taking the advice of the note near the till at Woody's, word of mouth is the best form of advertising and I am telling all of my terrible experience! Just because you own a restaurant, does not give you the right to speak to people in such a way. Obviously this woman must get a lot of complaints of this nature and the truth obviously hurts!

Well, I was workin' there and I have to say it's a great place to visit and to eat. Staff is the friendliest I've ever met, helpful and funny. Food is really tasty although it doesn't contain meat, so I can recommend it even to meat-eaters :) Atmosphere is so nice and friendly, everything naturaly looking and wooden furniture, lots of plants and little candles... Very nice prices and a good choice of main meals, sweet meals, smoothies, milkshakes, soups, salads... simply everything your stomach could desire. A bit difficult to find, that's true but it's really worth tryin'. Enjoy!

We love Woody's!! The food is always excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly, it's just a shame everyone else finds it in Summer and make it too busy to get a table!! Always cosy and excellent value, unfortunately we're sometimes too full for pudding!

Mrs Langton (Hertfodshire) wrote on 26 August 2008

Good food, but very limited vegan options, a lot of items out of stock and rather unhelpful staff.

This cafe is a little tricky to find, but well worth it now I have! I had a delicious rice crepe chosen from good selection of savoury ones. Lively atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. Child friendly and plenty of space. Reasonable prices.

I made the reservation on the morning of Thursday 3rd May for abirthday meal for eight on Monday 8th May. The had the audacity to contactme on the morning of the 8th May, at 10.50 a.m. to say that they wereoperating Sunday hours as it was a bank holiday. They had four days inwhich to contact me, giving me time to make alternative arrangements; butinstead left it until the last minute to contact me, leaving it almostimpossible to make alternative arrangements. Needless to say I would neverrecommend this restaurant to anyone. Their total inconsideration has ruinedmy daughter's birthday celebrations.

Nice atmosphere, inexpensive, baby-friendly, nice staff. The food is tasty. But if you're vegan the choice can be limiting. On the day I went they were out of many vegan options. It was also busy and getting a table was difficult. We chose to share. Getting there can be awkward also, as it's in the marina. Parking is free during the day, but not sure about evenings.

Only found this restaurant through coming on here. We have now been twice and really like it. Prices are reasonable and everything is cooked to order, not pre packaged like in so many places these days. Staff are very pleasant. Menu is wide ranging and it is a delight to have the choice of the whole menu, not being the poor relation with a couple of choices. There are several vegan options.
