The Shambles Vegetarian Restaurant 5 Long Shambles Telephone: 01246 558550 OPENING TIMES Vegetarian: Fully Vegan: Options Organic: Options International Andy derrick (matlock) wrote on 1 July 2010 Veggie hell!! have just returned from Elliotts having had a very dissapointing dining experience. found the customer service to be hostile when approach to question what was set on my plate before me- some boiled oninions on some wet pastry trying to pass itself of as a caramelised tart? some very loose interpretation going on there. Has to be by far my worst dining experience ever! was not offered an alternative/refund. Felt saddened that chesterfield vegetarians have to put up with this substandard slop. wish i had found this site before entering this place as i have to reinforce all of the aforementioned negatives even Gordon couldn't save this shambles.. bob ( Swaddale Avenue) wrote on 18 November 2009 surprised about the reviews. we have breakfast in there once or twice a week, they do a veggie breakfast and a vegan version, plenty of granary toast and about 20 sorts of tea, she has nettle. the prices are expensive for a cafe but they do have 4 staff and the rent and rates, taxes etc are extortionate in the shambles. Ade (Sheffield) wrote on 13 June 2008 I was looking forward to trying this restaurant. However, it seems to be a very amateurish business. The food was very poor (pink guacamole anyone?), my drink came in a dirty glass and although the glass was changed, the drink was not! Service was slow and surly and who serves potatoes with pizza? The 'chips' were cubed, they had ran out of salsa (well make some more!) so they made an 'onion relish', which was chopped onions with bottled mint sauce and the whole menu seemed over-priced. Mrs Coogan (Chesterfield) wrote on 15 January 2008 Both myself & my mum have been having lunch here once a week for the last few years but not anymore. I ordered Welsh rarebit which when it came looked like a gravy mixture had been poured over a slice of bread & tasted awful I couldn't eat it. I asked if I could order an alternative & was told by an ignorant member of staff that we would have to pay for that as it wasn't their fault. No customer care at all. So that is how much they care about customers. Myself & my mum spent on average £10.00 a week there, so for a £2.60 portion of so called welsh Rarebit they will now loose £40.00's worth of business from us per month. Joy Knight (Worksop) wrote on 1 January 2007 The only thing worse than the food was the attitude of the staff! The jacket potato I ordered was microwaved, not baked, and was not cooked in the middle. When I told the lady serving she was very rude to me and acted as if it was my fault. My husband had to place three different orders because they had run out of many of the meals on the menu (this was at about one o'clock). The courgette fritters he ended up with were rather overcooked (a bit burnt to be honest) and the salads that came with the meals were very ordinary. A terrible place, bad food and awful staff. I will never go back. Lara Catton (Chesterfield) wrote on 5 October 2006 I have tried this restaurant twice now. The first time was acouple of years ago when I ordered a vegetable bake with salad, thefilling of the bake consisted of mostly potato with very little else. Thesalad was ok but undressed, nothing special at the price they charge. Ireturned last month, thinking that perhaps I'd just picked a bad day lasttime. It would appear I hadn't - the lady on the till was rude to mebecause I didn't have the exact money and she was low on change. My mealwas again substandard for the price and I will not be returning. Verydisappointing as vegetarian restaurants are few and far between inChesterfield. Belinda Greaves (Bolsover Moor) wrote on 6 October 2002 Fantastic vegan desserts and a great choice of meals. The restaurant has a shop attached too that sells a range of health supplements and vitamins. Great atmosphere and ample room to sit. |
