Fabulous as always, great food, great choice and lovely friendly staff. If you're going to Cornwall on holiday you have to go there..... stay over if poss because the breakfasts are fab too. jamal brown (bromley kent) wrote on 31 August 2010 My family ate in this restaurant twice during our week in St Ives. We enjoyed both visits, the food was delicious, the staff friendly and the setting great. My dish of the holiday was definately the pea and chilli soup with cumin bread - perfect spicing. My wife and the kids enjoyed the home made not meat balls and spaghetti and my parents best dishes were the stir fry and the mud pie. Martha Hollis (Surrey) wrote on 11 July 2010 The best place to eat vegetarian food in St Ives is definitely The Bean Inn. This place is simply amazing. I was spoilt for choice! Everything was fresh, well cooked and imaginative. The staff were friendly and I made friends with a lovely couple who were dining on the table next to mine. The restaurant was cosy yet stylish, making a pleasant change from some other run of the mill veggie eateries which have an old-fashioned, cafe feel to them. I had a delicious meal and left feeling full, relaxed and thoroughly spoilt. I can't wait to go back there. I will probably book one of their rooms when I return to Cornwall so that I can eat breakfast there too! mark walton (hayle, cornwall) wrote on 1 March 2010 My girlfriend Claire had been nagging me for ages to take her to The Bean Inn. Despite her leaving rave reviews of the place under my nose all the time, I avoided it as I'm not vegetarian and I love my meat! I finally gave in and took her there for Valentine's . THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! We had a sharing plate as a starter which consisted of tasty falafal, olives, homemade flat bread, zingy broad bean hummus, baba ganoush & mint raita. Mike Eddowes (Arundel) wrote on 24 October 2009 We drove over to the Bean Inn from Padstow / Newquay area but sadly it was closed. It now only opens 3 evenings a week (this was as of end of October 2009) which seems a shame. Only opening three sessions a week doesn't say huge success to me? And not open for lunch at all at present. Alison (Brighton) wrote on 12 July 2008 We went on a Wednesday evening, and the place was fully booked. Small intimate atmosphere, lovely decor, and music was at a nice level too. Esther George (Slough) wrote on 3 January 2008 Absolutely fabulous. My husband and I have stayed there twice and we intend to holiday there again at Coast ( which the Bean Inn is attached to ) this year. The food is varied, tasty and extremely high quality. A lot of effort is put in not just with the food but with the ambience in the restaurant. The friendliness of the three women that run the restaurant and the guest house ( Coast ) has always made our stays very pleasant. Plus their beautiful cats Omelette and Poppy are an added bonus. In addition Coast is in a wonderful location with breath taking views Andy and Helen (Bedford) wrote on 30 April 2007 We visited the Bean Inn on Thursday 5th April 2006, 2 veggies, 1vegan and 2 meat-eaters. We all loved the food and the ambience of theplace. It looks a little uninspiring from the outside but dont be put off,its a revelation inside. The food was very high quality, do expectrestaurant prices though. Its attached to a veggie B&B (The Coast), we didnttry that but are very tempted for our next visit to Cornwall. Nicola Quinlan (London) wrote on 4 September 2003 Although small, the setting is ideal with views of St Ives bay and a beautiful garden should you wish to dine outside. The restaurant also houses the WILD PLANET ART GALLERY which has some amazing work on display. The food is stunning. Typical starters include warm cherry tomato and mozarella salad on a bed of rocket with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Main courses I have tried include roasted tempeh with herb mashed potatoes, cranberry chilli jam and fresh garden vegetables and the tofu and crisp vegetable stir fry. Prices are excellent (£2.75 starters, £6.25 main courses) all food is fresh and usually all ingrediants are organic. I love this place and during my recent trip to Cornwall ate here every night. Well worth a visit. Paula Richards (Restaurant connection) wrote on 22 July 2003 Stilton tart, stuffed peppers, spaghetti bolognaise, stir frys, roast dinners, salads, full vegetarian & vegan english breakfasts - menu changed daily. Small, friendly, nice garden & decking area - laid back chill out music, good coffees. Main lunch items from £4.50 - 3 course meal approximately £12.50 - £16. |
