My girlfriend Claire had been nagging me for ages to take her to The Bean Inn. Despite her leaving rave reviews of the place under my nose all the time, I avoided it as I'm not vegetarian and I love my meat! I finally gave in and took her there for Valentine's . THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! We had a sharing plate as a starter which consisted of tasty falafal, olives, homemade flat bread, zingy broad bean hummus, baba ganoush & mint raita.

My main course was a Mexican chille and bean bowl which really packed a punch with the spices and it was served with sour cream and crispy potato wedges.

Claire chose a Thai green curry which looked and smelt amazing. She was really happy as most Thai curries contain fish stock so she can't have them.

We were really full up so we decided to share a chocolate and raspberry mud pie and clotted cream. Oh my god! This was seriously rich and gooey. We loved it there and will definately go back soon. I'd recommend this place for vegetarians and scared meat eaters!

We drove over to the Bean Inn from Padstow / Newquay area but sadly it was closed. It now only opens 3 evenings a week (this was as of end of October 2009) which seems a shame. Only opening three sessions a week doesn't say huge success to me? And not open for lunch at all at present.

The other veggie restaurant in the area has closed for good.

If you are planning a trip to The Bean Inn I suggest you phone in advance to make sure they are open !!!!

We wasted some precious holiday time having based our visit on info from this site. Not the end of the world but a pity!

We went on a Wednesday evening, and the place was fully booked. Small intimate atmosphere, lovely decor, and music was at a nice level too.
I had garlic mushrooms for starter, my partner had a lovely warming pea/chilli soup. For mains we chose a stir fry and stuffed mushrooms with rosemary roasted potatoes, and for dessert we shared fruit crumble and a knickerbocker glory. The food was lovely, and there seemed to be a decent choice for vegans too. I'd go back if I was visiting the area again.

Absolutely fabulous. My husband and I have stayed there twice and we intend to holiday there again at Coast ( which the Bean Inn is attached to ) this year. The food is varied, tasty and extremely high quality. A lot of effort is put in not just with the food but with the ambience in the restaurant. The friendliness of the three women that run the restaurant and the guest house ( Coast ) has always made our stays very pleasant. Plus their beautiful cats Omelette and Poppy are an added bonus. In addition Coast is in a wonderful location with breath taking views

We visited the Bean Inn on Thursday 5th April 2006, 2 veggies, 1vegan and 2 meat-eaters. We all loved the food and the ambience of theplace. It looks a little uninspiring from the outside but dont be put off,its a revelation inside. The food was very high quality, do expectrestaurant prices though. Its attached to a veggie B&B (The Coast), we didnttry that but are very tempted for our next visit to Cornwall.

Although small, the setting is ideal with views of St Ives bay and a beautiful garden should you wish to dine outside. The restaurant also houses the WILD PLANET ART GALLERY which has some amazing work on display. The food is stunning. Typical starters include warm cherry tomato and mozarella salad on a bed of rocket with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Main courses I have tried include roasted tempeh with herb mashed potatoes, cranberry chilli jam and fresh garden vegetables and the tofu and crisp vegetable stir fry. Prices are excellent (£2.75 starters, £6.25 main courses) all food is fresh and usually all ingrediants are organic. I love this place and during my recent trip to Cornwall ate here every night. Well worth a visit.
