Can't believe it's ten years since we sent a review for this great place.There have been a lot of changes,the restaurant has been extended,and there is now a lovely roof garden.What has not changed one jot is the committment to serve lovely unusual dishes in an atmosphere that leaves you feeling relaxed the minute you sit down.I became veggie in 1976,and must say that some of the best meals I have ever eaten have been at Summersaults.Unlike any other place we have used over a long period,this has never "gone off".The fact that I see the same familiar faces among the customers every time we go speaks volumes.The staff are friendly and efficient,and although the owners run a tight ship,they seem to keep the same loyal workers for years.If you have not been yet,do go,you won't be dissapointed.

Fantastic place to eat that intrigues all you senses - taste buds with the interesting combinations of ingrediants. Visual sense with the fascinating trinkets, jewelry and object d'art. The lovely warm welcome and friendly chat as I and my children endevour to make a decision is a pleasure to hear which is especially heightened on jazz night. Finally the tactile sense relaxes as you settle at your table in the variety of seating and cushions. Recommend to all - it is absolute heaven.

I am amazed at the other responses! I love this place!!! Their ethics are fab; vegetarian restaurant, they have sensitively uncovered and restored the best Art Nouveau building in the town, and have literally took the roof off the back to create a delightful, sunlit, airy atrium space upstairs, which is perfect for afternoon tea. All this they have complemented by designing the interior Arts and Crafts style. It has a dignified elegance which may be lost on some, if you don't look up from your food! It's organic, and you don't just get five a day at Summersault; I've found its usually around fifteen veg in one meal, so I eat what I like for the next two days! The staff are friendly and the waitress with Downs Syndrome has the most refined manners I have ever met. Downstairs you can decide to dine amongst the intriguing objet d'art for sale in the shop front (all natural sustainable materials; no plastic stuff! I love it!) or eat al fresco out the front, continental style. Apparently, on Fridays they stay open late for evening meals with live Jazz entertainment. Typical restaurant prices.

A very friendly and welcoming cafe which also sells unusual gifts and toys. Usually has a quiche, a pizza, a soup, some hot dishes (bakes, tians etc) and a great range of salads and tasty rolls. Soup and a roll is around £4, other dishes around £6. Very welcoming to children and don't mind my friends and I cluttering up the place with our numerous prams!!

Disgusting. Over priced stodge. Doesn't cater for vegans and not much variety for vegetarians. Give it a miss.

By the way, they have increased the amount of organic food on offer. Generally there are three to four main meals on offer, in addition to pizzas and quiches. Usually all but one of the main meals are now organic.

Traditional 'Crank's' style food served in a friendly eccentric cafe/craft-shop atmosphere. Daytime only, but always a terrific selection with at least one wholly organic dish. Menu items include Chestnut and Mushroom pie, Tomato Cobbler and always good pizzas and quiches. A fantastic range of home made cakes and desserts with high quality ice creams. Licensed but very limited.
