Sibila's website above says Sibila's is currently closed but looking for new premises. Reason: they operated inside a health club (Body and Being) and this club has closed down.
Website will indicate when they are able to reopen.
Hope they find new premises soon because their food is good.
We went last year and thought Sibila's was just what Birmingham needed.
Went again last month (Aug 2008) and were disappointed to them closed.
Do watch the website for news.

Friendly and well-situated canalside restaurant, but surprisingly empty on a sunny Sunday. Food fastidiously vegetarian, but a little disappointing. An oven-dish was over-cooked and another dish was a bit too rich. Try to cook more simply with your good ingredients?

Went there on Saturday evening and didn't have to book. Good choice of starters and mains but, disappointingly had run out of Vegan options for dessert - given my boyfriend is vegan and can hardly ever have dessert he was disappointed. Especially as there were lots of vegan cakes on the menu. They eventually managed a small portion of Swedish Glaze ice cream (again only had half portion left). That was a shame as you'd think they'd be more prepared for a Saturday but what we did have was lovely and i'd recommend it as one of the few veggie restaurants in Brum.

What a find sibila's has turned out to be .. i have been a vegetarian for many years .. and at the start of this year decided to try being a vegan .. which made eating out extremely difficult indeed .. so to discover sibila's when i did is a god-sent indeed ..
I have taken no end of people there with me since i discovered it .. all of whom are meat eaters .. it is reassuring to discover that dispite their initial resistance to dining in a vegetarian restaurant .. they ate everything they were served .. one friend who ordered dairy icecream .. tried my vegan one and commented 'the vegan icecream is more creamy and full of flavour than the dairy' another has decided that he couldn't believe that vegetarian food could 'taste so good' and that he will be taking his friends there when they next eat out ..
So .. well done sibila .. keep up the good work .. and if i have anything to do with it ... i will keep introducing people to good vegan dishes at your restaruant ..

This place is vegetarian/vegan heaven on earth. A place you can go and not be faced by a choice of veggie lasagne or chips. Or if you are a vegan - just chips.

The service is always, without fail, friendly and welcoming.

At lunch times they now serve and eat all you can buffet for £5.99. Typical fare in the buffet would be soup, various salads, breads and oils, various veggie stews, risotto, curry - Thai or Indian, roasted veg, Princess Pie (this is to die for!), stir fried veg with tofu... This is just a small sample. Most of the food in the buffet is suitable for vegans.

Evening meals are varied and delightful. The menu changes every season. They also do a selection of gorgeous deserts, and my only complaint here would be that most of the cakes are not vegan friendly and I do like cake!

The atmosphere is relaxed and the view is pleasant looking out over the canal. I'd recommend this place for people with all dietary requirements - my carnivorous friends love it!

It's worth checking out their website as there are monthly offers that might be 4 for the price of 3, convert a carnivore, buy 4 buffets in a month and get one free...

Sibila catered for my wedding in June of this year and the food was as always absolutely fantastic. I had loads of my meat eating guests telling me how surprised they were about how great the food was as they had been a little uncertain about veggie food. I had been to the restaurant about 6 or 7 times before booking Sibila and always found the food to be excellent. I would recommend the tiramasu which is superb.. i have a sweet tooth tho.. The mezze are great too. In fact I've never eaten anything there that wasn't great. It is a little off the beaten track, but in a safe and residential area.

I can't believe the review by Lesley Beach! Must have been a bad day for her. I have been to Sibila's on 3 occasions and have always had an excellent service and food. The restaurant is in a quiet area off Sherborne Warf, but that only adds to it as it is a relaxing environment to get away from the busy centre and feels like your special hideaway restaurant you can retreat to. The food is organic and a wide choice to pick from it makes it difficult as you want all of it. The flavouring/spices of the food hits the spot and extremely tasty. I brought a party of non-vegetarians with me and not a scrap was left on the plates. The wine is excellent and a bonus as it's veggie/vegan friendly which can be a struggle for us veggie/vegans out there. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody!

I went there just yesterday, for a dinner alone. The service was very friendly (a bit therapy-like if you ask me because they speak in a very calm, quiet manner and their gestures are very slow - all quite nice). I had the salad bar to start with. It was about £2.50 as a starter and is more expensive as a main. It comprises pasta salad, potatoes, chick pea and white bean salad (the best of the buffet), lentil salad, and various raw veggies. I had the casserole "I can't believe it's not meat" bourguignonne which is in fact soya chunks in a tasty wine/mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes, broccoli and carrots (the latter were too peppery for me). The main was a huge portion - I only got half way through, and cost about £8. The rest of the menu seems appealing enough but there was no wholemeal pasta or rice and no quinoa or similar cereals. I did mention all this in my feedback, so they might change accordingly. For dessert I had tea and a box of ginger-chocolate biscuits - that way, I could take the box home rather than get a cake which I couldn't eat half of (because I was too full). All in all, the bill was £12.85. The location is a bit far from the main street as I had to walk alone in the dark on Sheepcote Street and then across the footbridge over the canal. But inside it was all comfort and warmth. I would definitely go again to taste the rest of their menu. The Christmas menu is very appealing and runs throughout December.

Postcard available in local shop advised that the place was open from 11am.

We were on holiday so sauntered down there about 11.30am, to be told lunch was not available until 12.30pm.

It was the canalside, we were on holiday so we agreed with the waitress that we would wait, so we had a coffee.

We ordered at the allotted time only to have to wait to be last served (the place was now packed) as others were coming out of the spa and all got served before us, although they had not ordered until they sat down.

At the end of this the Halloumi was Paneer and the food generally mediocre.

Waste of our time and effort, and of a great spot for a restaurant, should someone decide to open a decent one.

We would have had better service almost anywhere, and better food in a number of places in the vicinity.

City Cafe do an excellent veggie menu, Hudsons in Brindley Place do veggie selections in their (real gourmet) sandwiches, and both places pride themselves on their service.

Sibila's was appalling, don't bother going.

Visited the restaurant... lovely calm atmosphere, new building, located on the canal side... rear of Bridley Place... off Broad Street... close to new apartment developments. Good selection of vegetarian and vegan food. Licensed with a selection of veggie and vegan wines. Prices for main course start around £5. Only one choice of vegan dessert. However, the owner was very friendly and keen to expand the menu to offer more vegan choices. Worth giving them a ring to ask. Open some evenings until 9pm. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Brum. Highly recommended.
